I'm interested in crossbows. What's the best place to get them? And is it practical to make one?

I'd ask Gorbag bout this one, or Casimir, I think they know some about this.

The only practical crossbow I've seen is a low poundage one with a short bolt that hangs on your belt preloaded. You can fight normal with a shield and "flash them" with a bolt out of nowhere from behind your shield. If you just want to arch though, bow are going to be cheaper, safer, faster to load, and more accurate than a crossbow (for those crossbows that we have to say with(I think it's under 15#))

I have no desire to arch. I'm looking for that quick, out of the blue oh crap he had a crossbow on him. I messed around with a clunky version at a Crowley practice, but I know there have to be smaller and more agile models.

They make some real small ones (like 6x6 inches) that can shoot about 20 feet and you can leave the bolt on it while you fight, so when someone isn't paying attention you can move your shield and snipe em.

The national Dag rules now allow a 35# prod with a 12" draw length, which was a clerical error. It was supposed to be a 12" power stroke.
Guilder goes by the original proposal that was submitted to RWC: 450 inch-pounds. We accept any combination of prod power and power stroke that works out to 450 ip or less. So you could use a 45# prod with a 10" power stroke or a 50# prod with a 9" power stroke. As long as it's 450 ip or lower, it's about the equivalent hitting power as a 35# bow at half draw.
So what's power stroke? It's the distance the string travels when the crossbow is fired. Measure the distance from string to the belly of the prod when uncocked, then measure it again when cocked. Subtract the uncocked distance from the cocked distance, and that's your power stroke.

I guess I need to find an updated version of the MoA. It looks like the one on the official Dag site is outdated, or i'm just looking at the wrong thing.

No, this is just one of the few, if only, rules where Guilder does not follow the Ragnarok MOA as posted on the Nat'l Website

Do we have OUR MOA somewhere? If not can we gather everything that we've changed so we (or I) can create a PDF and post it? Maybe we should create a thread for the changes and proposed changes for us.

As far as I know, this is the only rule where we stray from the national MoA.
You sure you're not looking at the old Handbook, Orith? I'm pretty certain the one on the Dag site is at least as current as late 2009, which has the 35#, 12" rule in it.
