General Information Name: Brightfire k’Vasha
Alias: Karina Nekarana
Martial Status: Single
Nationality: Tayledras The general name for the Tayledras is the k'Varda, or "mage clans.". These people are also called, Bird-Lords, Birdkin and Hawkbrothers. The Tayledras, in general, are longer-lived than most humans, probably because of their constant exposure to the magic of the Heartstone. Tayledras Adepts are exceptionally longlived, with some reaching 120 to 130 years of age; their longevity is attributed to the frequency with which they handle node magic.

Appearance Like the Shin'a'in to whom they are related, all Tayledras, also known as Hawkbrothers, are born with black hair, blue eyes and golden skin. Their hair bleaches to silver as they age because of their proximity to the Heartstone in their Vale. Mages bleach faster than Scouts, but the whole bleaching process takes no more than two years and will effect even non-Gifted visitors to the Vale. Scouts usually dye their hair during the season when there is no snow on the ground to make themselves less visible in the forest. Tayledras eyes do not bleach because they are already blue, but the eyes of bondbirds and other non-Tayledras who dwell within the Vale will bleach to blue because of the magic of the Heartstone.
Tayledras Scouts also have bleached silver hair, since they live in proximity to the Heartstone, but during times when there is no snow on the ground, they dye their hair in mottled browns and gold to match their gear so they do not stand out so much in the forest. They carry a bow and a hooked climbing staff. | |
Height: 4'10"
Eye Color: Green Eyes
Clothing: On the field Karina is rarely seen in something less than efficient, off the field is when she is seen in her more festive garb

Personal HistoryKarina started out as Brightfire k’Vasha, an orphan who grew up under the Vale’s many eyes. Her parents were two Night Scouts who fell prey to some of the more savage beings that lurk around the Vale. This fact never bothered Brightfire, she was the Vale’s child and every adult her parents. This left Brightfire with a myriad of talents; arts, science, history, and she even knew how far she could stretch her gift, telepathy with animals, her strongest bond was with her Gryfalcon, Feya. Brightfire eventually chose to become a Night Scout, and flourished at the task, finding her gift to be beneficial and her desire to find out more about her surroundings invigorating. Eventually Brightfire was chosen to become a representative for the Night Scout on the k’Vasha council. Brightfire didn’t hunger for the job, she was elected by her fellow Night Scout’s when the previous representative was attacked by a wyrsa and became unable to fulfill his duties. Wyrsa were snakelike dog creatures that attacked and ate anything, no matter if it was poisonous or harmless, they ate everything. This became a problem when several attacks on various scouts and other members of the vale started to reoccur. As the problem became more apparent the council asked for a volunteer to go to the closest Vale to request help form their brothers and sisters. As a still unofficial part of the Council, and thus expendable, Brightfire nominated herself, anxious to see more of the world than just the surrounding area outside k’Vasha. On her journey to the neighboring Vale, k'Vala, Brightfire was gifted with a vision from Kal'enel, the Star-Eyed Goddess. She mentioned a great plan for her, one that would take her far from her Vale but would open her eyes to things she never thought possible. Intrigued by the vision Brightfire finished her errand to k'Vala, relieved to find that there were a few Mages and Scouts that were available to travel back to her vale and help with the attacks. During her visit to k’Vala she met, Alexa Nekarana, a mercenary from the group Night Raiders. Intrigued by an outsider Brightfire sought out Alexa numerous times during her visit, asking questions about the lands she has seen and overall delighted with the amount of things they had in common. One day became two and Alexa asked Brightfire to become her apprentice, offering to teach her how to be a Mercenary and a position in the Night Raiders. Brightfire agreed to take on the challenge, enthralled with the stories of battle and cultures that were unknown to her. The next day Alexa and Brightfire started back to Alexa's home, Guilder, where she would start training to be an efficient mercenary. It took a year and a half to teach Brightfire everything she knew, and to break her of a few habits Alexa deemed unneeded. Such as changing her name to Karina Nekarrana, and breaking Karina of the habit of sleeping outside or in a tree. to be continued

RelationshipsAll descriptions are provided by the individual. Work in ProgressBearI was losing control....I could feel the animal instincts taking over. I couldn't stop it. I tried. But I was losing. Soon I would be dead and worse, possibly my friends would be too. I knew what they would have to do. But how long would it take them to finish me off? Who would I hurt or kill before they did? The anger was winning and all that was left was to finally lose....I began to let go.
Then, from nowhere, I heard something. Or thought it. I don't know. I couldn't understand it at first yet there was something familiar about it. It told me to keep fighting. To keep struggling. And to remember who I was. To remember that I was a warrior, proud and honorable. It told me that what I was doing was not honorable. It was not proud. A true warrior could control himself. The voice shamed me. It told me to remember.......
And then I began to remember. Faces, people, places.....my father, mother......brothers and sisters.....and suddenly, my friends....flashes and feelings hit all at once....Makavell, Gorbag, Priest, Karina.....Karina! The voice was Karina...yes it made sense, she could commune with animals....she was bringing me back. Helping me to remember......she was like a sister...like my sisters....I could not hurt my sisters....I must regain control.... Casimir Ethrassa Gorbag
Little John Kal Makavell Mako The last day of ill-fitting clothing. That thought was foremost in my mind as I came upon the outskirts of the town. I managed to blend into the foot-traffic and followed the flow into an open market area. Finding the stall wasn't hard, as the clothing I coveted was hanging up on display. Seeing no one watching I scooped up a heap of clothes and began to walk away confidently when I heard a voice from the stall say, "You might want to pay for that." Turning around I found a crossbow leveled at my chest. "Pay?" I asked. "What does that mean?" "Pay, as in give me coin for the clothes I made." Said the voice, which I could now see belonged to a woman, she was slightly smaller than me, I could take her easily, but I doubted I could do so without some pain. "Your purse seems to be bulging, you should have more than enough silver to cover what you've taken." She motioned me over to the stall and lowered the crossbow. Upon first glance, the girl now know as Karina seems unimposing and harmless...nothing could be further from the truth. Hailing from an obscure tribe of magic users, she possesses minor telepathic abilities manifesting chiefly in her bond with her familiar, a greyfalcon named Feya [see Guild File Addendum: F56-9] and superb tracking, hunting and scouting skills learned during her time with the Night Scouts [no file exist in Guild records for this entry]. Add to this the skills and training she recieved while part of the mercenary group Night Raiders [see Guild Combat Assessment: NR-2E56] and you have one of the more effective light infantry in the Guilder armed forces. Subject should be treated with respect and caution.

Transcript ends: 13, 4, 11-11:11 Necavi Orith Orrin None-son Priest She left the Blood Fangs in pursuit of a worthier cause. What worthier cause could their be? To follow in the shadow of the Great Maw wasn't enough for her. I can still remember her stern voice calling the petitioners to aid her.
Karina Nekarana, Elder to the Workers, and caretaker to the petitioners. No more. No less. No longer.
Now she is running around with the Beast Orith, as well as the infernal flesh golem. Betrayer to her clan!
No! No. Get a grip, Priest. She did it for her own good... but... she is now infidel....
Should I... kill her? And if so... heh, i know it's sick and twisted calling her this... but how can I kill one who has acted as my own Mother? I'm confused, and I know I shouldn't be. But I am a conflicted being. Must go pray. Must try to understand... what to do... must go pray.... Skaytha
